MIDGETS & MONKEYS – RUSTY APOLLO

Dit is een van de mooiste cover albums die ik in de afgelopen jaren ben tegen gekomen. Het tweede album van Rusty Apollo, de Nederlandse band die afgelopen Moulin Blues nog in oranje gevangenispakken een prima set neerzette heeft zich vernieuwd qua personeel, zo zijn harpist en bassist vervangen en kennen we nu een vader-zoon combinatie in de band. Covers dus, maar vaak zo prachtig eigen gemaakt aan het gruizige maar ook opgewekte geluid van de band dat je soms denkt met originelen te maken hebt…. totdat de teksten langs komen en je Oh Yeah! denkt. Stil zitten is moeilijk, een gesprek voeren ook, een maal per uur opstaan is gewenst… om weer op play te drukken. |
