BLUES WITH HORNS VOL 1 – CHRIS DANIELS AND THE KINGS WITH FREDDI GOWDY

Blues meets Funk meets Southern Rock en vocals & guitar meets horns. Raar eigenlijk dat de naam Chris Daniels geen ‘oh ja’ gevoel oproept, want hij is een grootheid In Colorado USA. Hij staat al 33 jaar op het podium om (o.m. samen met Freddi Gowdy) liedjes van zijn 15 albums te spelen en hij werd daarvoor al een aantal keren onderscheiden in zijn geboorteland. Volgens bijgeleverde promopraat zou hij ook al heel vaak in Europa (waaronder Nederland en België) hebben getoerd, maar dat heb ik klaarblijkelijk dan gemist. En dat is best jammer, want de muziek op deze cd getuigt van swingende muziek, waar vooral ook zijn soepele stem stemt vrolijk. En zijn liedjes gaan ook nog eens ergens over, hij heeft nogal wat nare ziektes overwonnen. En dan die funk erbij, een heerlijke combinatie: Johnny Guitar Watson meets Lowell Fulson… Nee, gewoon Chris Daniels and the Kings featuring Freddi Gowdy moet je gehoord hebben.
